Tourism in Vienna to grow to 18 millions overnight stays

Global.Smart.Premium Vienna lays out the new tourism strategy

Global.Smart.Premium is the slogan of the tourism strategy defining the framework for Vienna’s destination development until 2020. According to the strategy, Vienna has laid down ambitious goals – 18 million nights spent by tourists by 2020, while the sales revenue of the lodging sector should hit the "the sonic barrier" of one-billion euros. New direct flight connections from 20 additional cities to the destination Vienna will be available by then. These targets stand for an increase of about 60 per cent in sales revenue and a plus of approximately 40 per cent in room nights in the year 2020.

Vienna is consolidating its status as a cosmopolitan metropolis and economic hub of Central Europe, and profiling itself through its culture of sustainability, urban technologies, intelligent mobility solutions and its high standards as a green city. 'Premium' refers to the strategy of quality leadership in our tourism offerings - from arrival and accommodation to sightseeing, culture and entertainment, shopping and gastronomy.
