Major orders for hydropower plants in Indonesia

GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH is a family-owned enterprise committed to the development and construction of water turbines and small hydropower plants. Now under its third generation of management, the company is among the world's leading suppliers of water turbines (Kaplan, Pelton and Francis turbines) with an output ranging from 5 kW to 20 MW.

The Austrian company is also active in Indonesia: PT Panji Muara has awarded Gugler Water Turbines the contract to supply two Francis turbines with a total output of 2.5 MW for the Muara hydropower plant, the first power plant project ever in Bali.

This is the third order from Indonesia following the successful commissioning of a Francis turbine for the Batu Hampar hydropower plant in Sumatra in 2012.

Crucial factors behind the award of the contract were the impressive technology and quality of the equipment on offer. The Francis impellers are completely CNC machined; a forged monoblock made of stainless steel is used as the primary material, thus guaranteeing maximum precision and efficiency.

PT Senegan Energi has awarded Gugler the contract for two vertical 6-jet Pelton turbines, as well as the appertaining electromechanical equipment for the Krueng Isep hydropower plant in Aceh on the island of Sumatra. The installed output of this hydropower plant is 13.3 MW at a discharge of 2.275 m³/s per turbine; the net head lies at 335.9 m.
