EuroNanoForum Dublin: Great interest in small particles

One of the largest European “Nano” events, the EuroNanoForum, took place in Dublin from 18-20 June 2013. 1500 delegates from 50 countries came to hear the breaking news from the nanotech sector.   

There were two speakers from Austria. Helmut Dietl, CTO of Otto Bock took part in the plenary session at the start of day two and spoke about “Nanotechnology helping people to be more healthy and agile”. The CEO of BioNanoNet in Vienna, Andreas Falk, presented a workshop entitled “From thematic research to innovation”. Companies in the private sector such as Profactor and AVL and research institutions AIT, University of Salzburg, Vienna University of Technology and Austrian Academy of Sciences were represented.

The Forum was divided into four tracks:
· Environment, Energy and Transport
· Life Sciences
· Commercialisation and Cooperation
· Industrial Applications and Nano-Engineering

Many events provided the platform for animated debate:
· Large plenary auditorium + break out rooms to facilitate over 70 expert speakers
· Exhibition Area with many stands displaying their expertise
· Market Place for clusters, companies, start-ups and spin-offs
· Science Square for EU-projects, universities, research & technology organisations
· Irish Showcase presenting Irish / international innovative companies on stage
· Magical Materials Exhibition for the latest novelties
· Enterprise Europe Network Brokerage Event on 20th June
