Bio/Organic Food

With every fifth hectare of agricultural land managed organically and 20,000 farms, Austria heads the European league in organic farming. The first organic farm dates from the 1920s and, today, the range of products on offer is impressive - cheese and dairy, meat, fruit juices, bread and pastries, pumpkin products, chocolate and cereals.       Measured by the proportion of cultivable land for organic products, Austria is the number one organic country in Europe. More than 20,000 farms operate organically here; every sixth Austrian farmer is an organic farmer. Every fifth hectare of arable land is cultivated according to organic guidelines. A quality seal has assured the high quality of Austrian organic products since 1995.
