Austrian elixir of life for Egypt!

UNIHA Wassertechnologie GmbH, a successful Austrian company, has won contracts for the installation of a total of six water treatment plants in Africa.

UNIHA is a prestigious international company specialising in water treatment, which has its headquarters in Linz. As well as producing drinking water, the plants run by the Linz-based water technology company also produce water for industrial use. The sophisticated projects will mostly be implemented in North Africa, Asia, the Balkans, and the Persian Gulf.

UNIHA has developed process technologies for all of its water treatment plants on the African continent, and is providing the complete range of pipework needed for the osmosis plant, all tanks, cartridge filters, mountings and electrical engineering work, as well as on-site supervision of the plant construction.

Although all six plants on the African continent will produce drinking water, the technologies used will differ greatly from one another. In Egypt, water will be treated by an especially efficient energy-recovery solution integrated into the reverse osmosis process. This will involve forcing salt water through a membrane at a pressure of 70 bar, enabling around 100,000 people in Sidi Abdel Rahman and El Arish to be provided with around 17,000 m3 of drinking water every day. The contracts are funded with an Austrian Softloan.
