Pathbreakers in formwork

Currently one of the most spectacular projects in Sweden is Bergeforsen Kraftverk. DOKA Sweden supplied a specially developed formwork solution for the hydroelectric power plant, which is located in Eastern Sweden near the city of Sundsvall.

The power plant, originally taken into operation in 1955, could no longer meet current requirements. Among others it was in need of a new spillway channel with dynamic pressure gates. In order to increase the total water flow capacity of the dam on the Indalsälven river, a second controlled floodgate had to be built. This structure will also be able to meet future impacts such as intercepting floods induced by climate change.

The construction of the new spillway channel started in June 2011 and its completion was scheduled for 2014. The new overflow has a capacity of 1.500 cubic meters per second. The pressure floodgate is 25 m wide and 10,5 m high. Particular challenges during the building phase were the harsh weather conditions in this geographically exposed location and the extremely high safety requirements.

Doka is a leading supplier of formwork technology, components and services. Giving construction companies professional advice and support 'on the spot' is a core competence of Doka. Doka Sweden has two branches from which the company delivers its products and know-how to customers all over Sweden.
