Kornspitz® is selling like hotcakes

backaldrin is investing both in the development of innovative products for a wide range of markets and in the training of its employees, and has a new production location in South Africa.

Specialist in baking ingredients and original creator of Kornspitz®, backaldrin is stepping up its long-standing cooperation with its business partner in South Africa. After 18 years of successful partnership, this family business from Upper Austria has acquired a 75% share in the South African company Austrian Premix. The intention is to develop the site in South Africa into a hub for the surrounding countries, enabling the manufacture of tailored products for African customers using Upper Austrian expertise.

A family company, backaldrin is the producer of over 600 bread, bakery and pastry products. Cape Town, South Africa will be the fifth backaldrin production location, in addition to Asten in Upper Austria, Amman in Jordan, Winterthur in Switzerland and Toluca in Mexico. The family business, run by Peter Augendopler, has over 850 employees worldwide and currently exports baking ingredients to over 100 countries. The company is also the original creator of the Kornspitz® baking mixture.

Austria and its baking culture have an outstanding reputation across the globe. In order to ensure that Austria continues to represent baking perfection in future, backaldrin is investing not only in the development of innovative products for a wide range of cultures, but also in the training and further education of its employees.
