Austrian wine – a perfect match of tradition and innovation

Austrian Wine Marketing Board – making Austrian wine an export hit around the world


Founded in 1986, the Austrian Wine Marketing Board (AWMB) is the national service body for the entire Austrian wine industry. The board is based in Vienna and has the aim to strategically support, coordinate and maintain quality and sales of Austrian wine around the world.

Since its establishment the AWMB has been promoting Austrian wine around the world and by this time the Austrian winegrowers’ products are exported to more than 50 countries across the globe.

The Austrian wines enjoy great popularity around the world. Especially in Scandinavia the number of enthusiasts for those Austrian products increases constantly. The wines from the Austrian wine growing regions have already taken the Danish restaurant scene. At all 13 Danish restaurants distinguished with a Michelin star you find selected Austrian wines on the menu. Even in the world-best restaurant NOMA, they offer noble wines made in Austria.

In 2014 the Austrian winegrowers won more than 1,500 national and international prices for their products. This is a success, which is also contributed to the AWMB.

By the perfect combination of tradition and innovation, the Austrian winegrowers together with their Danish importers and the Austrian Wine Marketing Board were able to establish successfully and built up excellent relationships in Denmark.
