Greiner Group on course for further expansion

The Austrian plastics processing specialists are banking on diversification, innovation and globalisation as they expand into new markets abroad and strengthen their position at home.

Business is booming for Greiner : working at 134 locations in 29 countries worldwide, the Greiner Group’s 9,109 staff have seen group sales grow by 9% to EUR 1.4 billion in the 2015 financial year, as new markets have been opened up and existing facilities extended.

Greiner Packaging’s recently acquired majority holding in a Turkish packaging firm makes it Turkey’s largest manufacturer of hard plastic containers for dairy products. The company is also expanding in Brazil, where Greiner Bio-One has begun extending its manufacturing facilities to ensure it can keep up over the long term with rising demand for locally produced safety products in the medical technology sector.

Everything looks set for expansion in 2016, with investment capital of up to EUR 120 million available this year. Greiner Bio-One is due to establish sales outlets in Turkey and Italy, while Greiner Packaging is on the point of completing a joint venture agreement in India, where there is plenty of potential for the packaging sector in what is now the world’s largest sales market for dairy products. Greiner Perfoam, meanwhile, is currently looking for joint venture partners in Mexico and China.

Greiner Holding AG’s operations are spread across five subsidiaries: Greiner Packaging, Greiner Bio-One, Greiner Foam, Greiner Perfoam and Greiner Tool.Tec. The group is a leading manufacturer of foam materials, and processes plastics for the packaging, furniture, sports, and automotive industries as well as for the medical technology and pharmaceuticals sectors. It is also one of the leading producers of extrusion tools and plant construction machinery.
