Vossen looks to pastures new

The Austrian manufacturer of terry towelling is setting its sights on becoming a global brand and investing EUR 2.5 million to help boost its exports.

Vossen is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of terry towelling, producing six million high-quality products every year, including hand towels, bath towels, dressing gowns and bath mats. A cutting-edge production system is used to process several tons of yarn into terry towelling products every year, and Vossen sets great store by quality, innovation, international design and ecological sustainability.

The company has earmarked EUR 2.5 million for investment in the business this year. The money will be spent not only on a new, fully automated sewing system and innovative weaving technology, but also put into Vossen retail concessions (the “shop in shop” concept). Special product lines are to be jazzed up in cooperation with well-known fashion designers. Vossen has not forgotten younger buyers, either, and hopes to catch the attention of some of the internet’s leading Bloggers.

Vossen has become a byword for Austrian terry towelling products and exports 70% of its hand towels, bath towels and dressing gowns to 4,000 clients in 43 countries. Most of its exports are destined for Germany, but Italy and the Netherlands are also major markets, with the Middle East and Asia showing great potential. As Vossen’s internationalisation of business picks up pace, establishing a world-class brand makes perfect sense.

Vossen’s 254 staff in Austria, Hungary and Germany, recorded sales of some EUR 34 million in the 2017 financial year and the order book is looking healthy for 2018 as well. With three big contracts already in the bag, sales predictions are in the region of EUR 36 Million.
