Austria's agricultural exports are rising steadily

There has been no let-up in demand for agricultural produce from Austria – the goods exported in 2018 had a total value of EUR 11.5 billion, with major trading partners including Germany, Italy and the USA.

AMA-Marketing ’s first projected calculations suggest that Austria’s agricultural exports increased in value by some 3.9% to EUR 11.5 billion in 2018, although total export volumes over the same period were decreasing slightly.

Accounting for a third of Austria’s total exports of agricultural produce and foodstuffs (EUR 4.1 billion/+4.9%), Germany is the country’s leading trading partner, followed by Italy on EUR 1.2 billion (-5.9%). Whereas exports to Hungary (EUR 444 million/+6.8%), Slovenia (EUR 329 million/+2.9%), the Netherlands (EUR 315 million/+4.6%), France (EUR 267 million/+5.6%) and Poland (EUR 240 million/+7.3%) were on the rise, exports to Switzerland (EUR 423 million/-0.8%) and the Czech Republic (EUR 289 million/-4.2%) decreased slightly.

Exports to the USA were growing by 3.8% to EUR 925 billion – a result that makes the USA Austria’s third most important export market.

The most important product groups to be exported continue to be alcohol-free drinks, meat and meat preparations, and milk and milk products.
