VAMED enjoys the best growth in the company’s history

The Austrian healthcare provider achieved the largest growth in its history last year, marking the latest chapter in its international success story.

The Vienna-based VAMED Group has been proving that private companies can enjoy considerable success in a healthcare sector often dominated by public sector providers – last year, VAMED achieved the largest growth in the company’s history, with turnover climbing by 38% to EUR 1.7 billion. Staff numbers have risen to more than 27,000, some 6,300 of them in Austria.

In 2018, Vamed acquired 38 healthcare facilities and 13 service providers in Germany, all focused on convalescence and invalid care. With a total of 67 post-acute care facilities, VAMED is one of Europe’s leading convalescent care service providers; as a technical service provider, the company also supports 840 healthcare facilities with some 193,000 beds around the world. In total, VAMED’s healthcare facilities employ some 10,000 doctors, therapists and carers.

To date, VAMED has completed more than 900 healthcare projects in 88 countries, ranging from the design and construction of hospitals to the setting up and running of convalescence and care facilities. Taking all its activities together, VAMED achieved a business volume of EUR 2.2 billion.

Last year, the healthcare service provider won new contracts in countries including Angola, China, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Oman and Trinidad and Tobago. In the high-end services sector, VAMED has acquired the British medical technology specialists Avensys UK Ltd and Germany’s Medserv-CE GmbH Clinical Engineering, further expanding its range of services in this sector.
