New training options for security-related education courses thanks to augmented and mixed reality made by Realsim.

‘Augmented reality’ refers to the computer-aided expansion of our perception of reality. Such information can be of relevance to every human sensory modality.

Augmented reality is mainly understood to mean the visual representation of information, however, and this data is transmitted using special headsets. REALSIM is a high-tech company that has been creating augmented and mixed reality for applications using data headsets since 2017.

The applications provide augmented reality solutions for customers including the fire service, police and military, including for security-relevant training courses.

Mixed reality refers to the interaction of holograms in real surroundings. Generally speaking, the data headsets used (such as the Microsoft Hololens 1 and 2) are sold for indoor use only, but REALSIM is working with cutting-edge visualisation technologies to enable their deployment in outdoor environments.

A partnership with the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria has given REALSIM an edge in skills and technology, and both educators and customers are brought on board at the development stage to create the best possible products and services.

Rooted in Upper Austria – used around the world: 2019 saw Upper Austria’s Export Center OÖ join forces for the second time with hub, ert, the Upper Austrian non-profits network, and ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in search of the best international start-ups. From all the applications, 15 from Upper Austria won awards in the Hottest International Start-ups category.
