Plasser & Theurer consolidates Brazilian business with new production site. The company is the world market leader in track building machinery.

Plasser & Theurer , the world market leader in track machinery from Upper Austria, began production in its Brazilian subsidiary "Plasser do Brasil" in Rio de Janeiro in mid November. The family-owned company has been active in Brazil for 35 years and has now extended the former service centre to include a production plant. This means that, like in many other countries, no more railway lines will be built without Plasser & Theurer.

Worldwide, Plasser & Theurer operates a total of 17 companies where 3,000 staff manufacture products such as track tamping machines, ballast distributing and profiling machines, stabilising and consolidating machines, ballast cleaning machines etc. These are then sent to more than 100 different countries. Company revenues amount to around EUR 220 million.

The success story began in 1953, when Plasser & Theurer developed the world’s first hydraulic track tamping machine, taking the first step towards the mechanisation of track construction. Since then the company has experienced rapid growth, decisively driven by innovations from Plasser & Theurer.
