The EuroSkills 2020 European skills competition will be held in Austria

26. April 2016

The final decision was made in Gothenburg (Sweden) on 20 April: Graz, Austria’s second largest city, is to host EuroSkills 2020!

Graz fought off a challenge from the Finnish capital, Helsinki, as the final decision was made for the international professional skills competition to return to Austria for the first time since 1983.

The successful bid to host the European skills championship brings kudos to Austria and its dual education system while also recognising the excellent results achieved by Austrian participants in previous international competitions. Indeed, the Austrian team are the current European champions.

The objective of the EuroSkills European skills competition is to promote and improve vocational training in Europe, with some 500 young people taking part in the biennial tournament and putting their professional expertise to the test.

Austria will be fielding a 35-strong team of specialists at EuroSkills 2016 in Gothenburg (Sweden).
