The joyful sound of Riegel organs rings out across the world

12. April 2018

This Austrian firm has a rich heritage of organ building, and an excellent international reputation. It is now building organs all over the world.

Rieger have been building organs since the 19th century. The business has been developing very nicely of late, and the company is well placed for continued success both at home and abroad. Rieger is now one of the leading firms in the industry, with some of the most famous churches and concert halls on all five continents resounding to the sound of Rieger organs. The Phiharmonie de Paris, for example, joins a list of concert halls from China to Japan and even Russia that boast a Rieger organ.

With its 68 staff from 13 countries, Rieger Orgelbau is a classic Austrian SME company with an international clientele and an excellent reputation among artists and the business community alike.

Though 95% of Rieger’s turnover stems from its export business, it is perhaps the 5% of projects completed in Austria that are of particular interest. Having completed an organ for the Vienna Musikverein, the company is now pressing ahead with the creation of a new organ for Austria’s most famous landmark: St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna.

Though active all over the world, Rieger always looks to use materials sourced close to home. The wood used for each and every one of its tailor-made organs comes from local forests, and other materials used in their construction are- if available - also sourced in Austria. The company’s order book is heaving and their blue-chip client list is growing daily.
