Advantage Austria (Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce) Silk Road Biz Award 2020: The nominated companies have been determined

The nominees of Advantage Austria Almaty come from Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Vorarlberg and Vienna

The purpose of the Silk Road Biz Award is to highlight outstanding achievements of Austrian companies in Central Asia and placing their success stories in the media spotlight," said Rudolf Thaler, the Austrian Trade Commissioner in Almaty. Six companies are nominated for the Silk Road Biz Award 2020: two companies from Vienna and each one company from Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Vorarlberg. The success stories mainly focus on Austria's largest economic partners in Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Silk Road Biz Award winners will be announced on 27th February at the award party during the economic mission in Tashkent. “There are many successful Austrian companies in Central Asia and, accordingly, many success stories to tell. The award is intended to help innovative and successful Austrian companies to sell their services better”, encourages Thaler to apply for the Silk Road Biz Award 2021.

The nominees for the Silk Road Biz Award 2020:

UPPER AUSTRIA

Horst Wiesinger Consulting GmbH (Linz) received an order to develop a mining and integrated steelworks in Uzbekistan, one of the largest industrial projects in the country.

SALZBURG

GEOCONSULT Consulting Engineers (Wals) developed for the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kyrgyzstan a scale-based monitoring and early warning system for landslides to protect the local population. This system is unique in Central Asia, the project is one of the most challenging natural hazard projects in the company's history.

STYRIA

Rosendahl Nextrom (Pischelsdorf) supplied a complete assembly line for the production of up to five car batteries per minute. This additional capacity will significantly strengthen the Kazakh company’s position as market leader and exporter.

VORARLBERG

BERTSCHlaska set up a new cheese production line with a capacity of seven tons of cheese per day for a leading milk processing company in Uzbekistan. The possibility of producing different types of cheese significantly helped to expand the client’s market leadership. Bertsch Group is also successful in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

VIENNA

Herz Armaturen installed over 100,000 isolation valves and 10,000 volumetric flow controllers in combination with several hundred differential pressure regulators for zone control in the tallest building in Central Asia. The project in Nur-Sultan is one of the largest projects in the company's history. Herz holds a leading position in its industry in Kazakhstan.

Starlinger & Co received in Uzbekistan the largest order in the company's history, with a contract value of 27.5 million euros and goods deliveries amounting to 22 million euros in 2019. Furthermore, deliveries worth several million euros were made to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
