Austria opens the Embassy at the beginning of 2008. Ursula Fahringer, Austrian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Kazakhstan, informed at briefing after ceremony of presenting credentials to State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Kanat Saudabayev.

" We spoke about opening embassy in Kazakhstan. This will be at the beginning of the next year" – Ambassador said after meeting with State Secretary.

According to her words, "this is a perfect basis for widening of relations in all branches". This is to be the first Austrian Embassy in Central Asian countries. "Kazakhstan is our most important partner in Central Asia, most important oil importer. We import 20 percent of oil from Kazakhstan", - Ursula Fahringer said, and noted that relations between Austria and Kazakhstan develop very well, but the potential has not exhausted yet.

Statistical data given by Press-service of State Principal say that commodities turnover between our states for the first half-year of 2007 is 100 million USD, total value of Austrian investments in Kazakhstan's economy is 1.1 bill. USD, including 161.4 mln. USD of direct investments. Austria takes 11 th position among countries investing in RK. Kazakhstan's capital investments into Austria have reached 79.9 mln. USD.
