Haubenberger The major Lower Austrian baker boosts exports

The world of crystals in Tyrol, Loisium wine world in the Wachau and now the Haubiversum in the Mostviertel – Austrian companies are not only exporting their products, they are also presenting them in a novel way.

Every day 60 tonnes of flour are processed by the lower Austrian bakery Anton Haubenberger GmbH for 800,000 loaves of bread and rolls. These do not only go to Austria, but also Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic. The leading product is the so-called 'Teiglinge', supplied uncooked and then baked off in the supermarket. Company boss Anton Haubenberger, who manages the company in the third generation in Petzenkirchen im Mostviertel, employs 450 staff and last year chalked up revenues of EUR 45 million.

The family-run company recently invested EUR 3.5 million in a 'Miracle World of Baking' which opens in September 2008 and is expected to attract 100,000 visitors a year. The "Haubiversum" will allow a virtual tour through the production process and there will also be an adventure cafe and a children's bakery. Along with Swarovski Crystal Worlds and Loisium Adventure World of Wine , Austria now boasts another attraction of this kind.
