STRABAG has won an order from Libya's Ministry for Housing and Infrastructure for the modernisation of the complete urban infrastructure in the city of Tajura in the greater Tripoli area. This important € 434 million project marks STRABAG's definitive entry onto the Libyan market.

The project comprises the laying of pipes for the city's water supply and sewage disposal as well as telephone and electricity lines. The order further includes the new road construction as well as the lightning. In all, the order involves 200 kilometres of infrastructure with a planned construction period of four years.
Overall, Libya has an enormous potential for improvement in terms of its infrastructure. Following the lifting of sanctions on the country, Libya has opened up appreciably to foreign businesses, a fact attested to by  the increased presence of international companies. The great need to catch up, coupled with the high volume of revenue from the oil business, promises to turn Libya into a dynamic market in the near future.
