The Tyrolean family-owned company Egger has been producing top quality chipboard since 1961 and now supplies the world market.

The Tyrolean family business Egger , headquartered in St. Johann, is among Europe's leading manufacturers of engineered wood products. In 16 plants across Europe, Egger today produces and processes over five million m³ of top quality chipboard, MDF and OSB board. The company, founded in 1961, distributes its products worldwide and operates in three strategic business areas - decorative (interior design, furniture), construction (building) and retail (flooring warehouses and DIY).

In the business year 2007/08, revenues rose from EUR 1.47 to EUR 1.64 bn. To ensure continued success, the company has also been investing heavily this year. The investment programme of the 5,700-strong company extends to almost all sites in Austria, Germany, Great Britain, France, Russia and Romania. January 2008 saw the largest single investment in company history begin operations with the new Radauti plant in Romania. Egger invested EUR 210 million in the first extension phase of the 80-hectare compound. Radauti will also be a base for increasing exports to neighbouring regions - the Ukraine, Bulgaria and Turkey. At the French site (Rion) the company is also currently investing EUR 55 million in a new production line for chipboard.
