AMABO - Roof Tiles Made Out of Recycled Plastic

31. March 2020

New Factory Supported by the Austrian Development Agency

With financial assistance by the Austrian Development Agency ADA, Cameroon’s first ever Eco friendly roof tile manufacturing plant, AMABO, was commissioned in Likoki, the south west province of Cameroon.

AMABO roof tiles are 100% recyclable, produced in a highly cost-efficient way and eco-responsible. The innovative roof tiles are manufactured using post-consumer plastic waste mixed with sand. This mixture prohibits water absorption, insulates against sun and humidity, makes the product unbreakable and fire resistant up to 220 degrees Celsius.

To ensure the smooth operation of the new AMABO factory, a technical team from the machinery supplier assisted with the installation of the heavy production machinery and the training of all staff on necessary skills to maximize production levels and ensure safety at the factory site.

The official opening ceremony of the new Eco-roof tile factory in Douala was attended by the European Commission/EEAS delegate in Yaoundé, Ms. Kathrina Renner, the General Director, Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) Cameroon as well as the AMABO Project Manager/CEO, Dr. Sonja Sagmeister – Brandner.

Since the 30th 0f January 2020, the AMABO factory has been successfully running and producing world-class roofing tiles at full capacity.
