15th Conference of European Regions and Cities (CERC): 6–8 October, in Salzburg, Austria

The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE) is organising its 15th Conference of European Regions and Cities. The topic for this year’s summit is "Europe and Peace: 1919 – 1989 – 2019".

The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE) has enjoyed great success over the last 14 years in promoting regions and municipalities throughout Europe, and the 15th Conference of European Regions and Cities is set to take place at the Salzburg Congress on 68 October 2018.

The first section of the Salzburg Europe Summit will provide a quick recap of the History of the Regions of Europe, and the second half will examine current challenges and crises in and around the European Union with presentations, panel discussions and plenary evening events.

A host of internationally renowned experts and decision-makers from the worlds of politics, commerce and society will be discussing the following topics:

  • IRE Forum: Europe – a Peace Project?
  • Ukraine: Chances for Peaceful Solution
  • Peace in the Western Balkans - Peace in Europe
  • Currency & Peace in Europe: 20 years of the Euro
  • Opening up the East: 30 Years after the Fall of the Iron Curtain – Tourism in Europe
  • Energy Supply in Europe: A Question of Peace, Stability and Securit

Keynote speakers will include the former Austrian Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Karin Kneissl, the former German Finance Minister and the so-called ‘father of the Euro’ Theo Waigel, EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova and the Deputy Director-General of Energy Policy, EU Commission, Klaus-Dieter Borchardt.

The attendance fee of EUR 390 is waived for representatives of regions, cities and municipalities, diplomatic services, NGOs, members of the Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE), schoolchildren and students.
