Arnold Schwarzenegger praises Norway’s engagement in environmental actions

8. June 2018

Personal  letter of thanks for PM Erna Solberg

The R20 Austrian World summit takes place every year in Vienna and is a global network platform to discuss actions on how to fulfil the UN Sustainable Development Goals as well as reach the global climate protection targets of the Paris Agreement. Amongst others, Norway’s prime minister Erna Solberg attended the event last May and presented the efforts that Norway undertakes to counter climate change and promote clean energy.

Her talk left a strong, memorable impression on the participants, especially on the Chair of the R20 Regions of Climate Action, Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was so inspired that he even wrote her a personal letter thanking her for all the work she is doing in Norway. The former Californian Governor particularly emphasized the fact that “Norway managed to be a leader in clean energy despite being an oil-rich country”. This note resembles appreciation for Norway’s environmental efforts and underlines its position as a role model in this area.
