National Energy Globe Awards 2018 for Sweden, Norway and Kenya awarded

30. November 2018

Congratulations to the Winners!

The Austrian Commercial Attaché Wolfgang Sabella has awarded the National Energy Globe Awards for Sweden, Norway and Kenya on 29 November 2018 in Gothenburg. In addition, the Austrian Honorary Consul General Lars-Olof Magnusson was congratulating at the ceremony.

This year's winners of the National Energy Globe Award were:

Sweden: Climate Curtains AB (Mr. Peter Hertz) for the project "Climate Curtains - Save energy. Save money. Save the environment."

Climate Curtains’ patented solution provides real estate owners with a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to “plug the energy leak” at its very source. Climate Curtains are innovative roller blinds that not only help minimize thermal leakage by boosting the insulating capacity of windows to approach those of walls, but also possess the ability to harvest solar energy.

Norway: ECOsubsea AS (Mr. Tor Mikal Østervold) for the project "An environmentally friendly service for keeping trading ships efficient whilst reducing their environmental footprint"

The ECOsubsea solution, also known as the COLLECTOR, is a remotely operated vehicle that removes the need for divers by using a newly developed high-pressure water cleaning principle called ‘soft jets.’ It is used to remove marine fouling from vessels. With this technology, the hull utilizes this technology to clean the port, thereby saving shipping companies more time.

Kenya: TRINE (Mr Andreas Lehner) for the project "Ethical finance for solar home systems ".

TRINE is an innovative ‘fintech’ company closing the gap between private capitals in developed countries and solar companies in emerging markets, offering an alternative finance solution to off-grid solar projects through a novel crowdfunding model. By using the potential of digitalization, they channel finance from private individuals to solar energy companies in emerging markets.

Committed people all around the world develop solutions for the most pressing environmental problems of our time like resource scarcity, air and water pollution, erosion, climate change or dependence on fossil fuels. Although these solutions are readily available, they often remain unheard of. Energy Globe gives them a voice and presents them to a large audience to make them visible and encourage others to come up with their own innovative solution.

With 182 participating countries, projects from all over the world are submitted, ranging from small and simple initiatives to large-scale high-end ones. The national winners of the Energy Globe Award are published in cooperation with UNEP at on 5 June, the UN World Environment Day. On this date, a global awareness raising campaign starts for best practice projects which help to save the planet. National Award Ceremonies are organized by Advantage Austria
