Oman-UAE power pact signing today


MUSCAT — The government of the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will sign today in Abu Dhabi an agreement for electrical as part of the GCC power grid. The two sides will also sign technical agreements for the exchange of energy between the respective companies and authorities in both countries to benefit from the linkage project.
The first stage of the project was launched during the last GCC Summit, with Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia as signatories. The third phase of the GCC Electrical Linkage Project (the Power Grid) is expected to be implemented in the second half of 2011. The agreement will be signed by Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, and Mohammed bin Dhaen al Hamli, UAE Energy Minister. — ONA
