Inauguration of the San Pedro Methane Power Project

2. December 2010

The San Pedro Landfill Methane Recovery and Electricity Generation Project, which was inaugurated last 02 December 2010, is an undertaking of Bacavalley Energy Inc.  It will generate power by the combustion of methane gas from the San Pedro Landfill in Laguna, which is a 12 hectare facility that has been receiving waste since 2003.

Powering the San Pedro facility are four (4) J320 gas engines by GE Jenbacher set to produce 4 MW of energy.  Jenbacher (formerly Austrian-owned company but was acquired by GE in 2003) was chosen by Bacavalley for its excellent technology.

The project will be registered under the Clean Development Mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  It is expected to generate up to 1,300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide over a 10 year crediting period.
