Austrian Bridge in the Philippines

3. June 2020

Jones 2 Bridge in Jones, Isabela

The Austrian company, Waagner Biro, through the Austrian-assisted DPWH Bridge Construction / Replacement Project of the Philippine government, has recently finished the construction of a 350 linear meters modular steel bridge in Jones, Isabela.  The newly constructed bridge serves a a major link between the towns of Isabela and Madella Quirino province.

The new bridge replaced the 236 linear meters existing single lane reinforced concrete slab type of bridge. During heavy rains, the old bridge was submerged in water, seriously affecting the agricultural lands and movement of people and their goods from and to settlement areas.  Considering the volume of traffic passing through this bridge and based on the experienced flood water level, a construction of a longer, higher, and wider permanent bridge was realized.

The newly constructed bridge is scheduled to be inaugurated within June 2008.
