New plant in the Philippines develops potential on the ASEAN market

The opening of a new ultra-modern production plant in the Philippines marks another strategic milestone in the expansion of KTM’s international activities.

The new plant, opened on 6 June 2017, was set up following the foundation of KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing Inc. This is a joint venture between Adventure Cycle Philippines Inc. – a company owned by AC Industrial Technology Holdings Inc., itself a member of the Ayala Group – and KTM AG , Europe’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.

The new plant produces four of the most important KTM street models: the KTM 200 DUKE and KTM 390 DUKE, as well as the KTM RC 200 and KTM RC 390. To begin with 6000 machines will be manufactured at the new site using an advanced production method to serve the regional market, before production is ramped up to five-digit figures. With the construction of the plant, KTM is catering for its international expansion and growing popularity, whilst simultaneously enabling itself to meet the demand on various world markets with constantly growing sales figures. KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing Inc. will be in a position to service the huge demand for motorcycles, not only in the Philippines but also in the neighbouring countries, and even to move forward into China, the largest market in the world for two-wheelers.

KTM AG, based in Mattighofen in Austria, produces, develops and distributes competition off-road and street motorcycles for the brands KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles. The KTM AG products are distributed via 30 sales subsidiaries and three joint venture companies in Dubai, New Zealand and the Philippines to over 2500 independent dealers and importers.
