Global focus on Austria as a destination healthcare provider

March 6, 2020

Great emphasis is placed on healthcare in Austria, and the country’s healthcare system’s highest standards and constant quality control have made it one of the finest in the world.

Patient safety, structural quality, risk management, the educational background and further training of staff, and innovations in the technology and organisational sectors have allowed Austrian healthcare to lead the field internationally. These elements similarly make up the focal points of a quality strategy that has impressed patients from all over the world on a personal level.

Austria’s natural advantages (its many waterways and lakes, magnificent countryside and healing springs) combined with its acute ecological sensibility, a medical school with a global reputation and significant innovations in the medical products sector offer great potential and unrivalled conditions for the healthcare market of the future.

Austria boasts a total of some 265 hospitals (both public and private), more than 900 outpatient clinics, 70+ rehabilitation centres, over 800 old people’s and nursing homes, around 30 geriatric centres and 9 hospices. There are also 31 university clinics and 30 highly specialised laboratories throughout the whole of Austria which are amongst the top research institutes in Europe.

You can find out more about the leading lights in the healthcare sector, along with suggestions for potential business cooperation, in the current edition of our magazine FRESH VIEW:
