Austrian cross laminated timber technology featured in the New York Times

June 11, 2012

Austrian company KLH uses CLT to build one of the tallest wooden residential buildings in the world

The core competence of KLH Massivholz GmbH is the production of large-format timber construction elements, which are sold on the market as cross laminated timber or “KLH solid cross laminated timber boards.” KLH is a market leader in supplying KLG solid wood panes as large scale building elements for walls, ceilings and roofs. Numerous reference projects throughout Europe pay tribute to the company’s active marketing strategy and the strength of its network. The 29-unit building featured in the New York Times article is different from a traditional building in that it is constructed entirely of wood from the second floor up. CLT lends a strong structure to the building and is an environmentally friendly alternative to other materials.
