“Romeo and Juliet” released as first feature

Swarovski Entertainment has released its first feature, Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” based on a script by Julian Fellowes, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth.

With a history spanning 75 sparkling years on the silver screen, and having worked hand in hand with countless costume, jewellery and set designers on some of Hollywood’s most iconic productions, it is a natural evolution for Austrian Swarovski to move into film production. Swarovski Entertainment aims to express Swarovski’s philosophy, ideas and values through moving images to enchant and inspire audiences around the world.

Swarovski Entertainment is Swarovski’s new film division which collaborates with established industry partners and exceptional talent to develop, finance and produce original and artistically accomplished feature films with international box office appeal. Swarovski Entertainment produces theatrical, story- and director-driven feature films with equal focus on entertainment, originality, style and substance. The films tell original stories with uplifting plots that are set anywhere from the glamorous worlds of music, film and the Arts, to enchanted fairytale worlds and realms of the imagination. Swarovski hopes to achieve a greater reach for Swarovski stories and the Swarovski brand and to express its philosophy, ideas and values through moving images.

Swarovski not only provided Swarovski products (including approx 500,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, crystal pearls, crystal fishnet, crystal yarn, and genuine gemstones) for costumes and production design, but also co-produced and co-financed the movie. Swarovski Entertainment was involved in all aspects of the “Romeo and Juliet” production, from casting and legal negotiations to financing, publicity, sales and distribution as well as coordinating the shoot in Italy and helping to create the look and feel of the movie.
