November 5, 2009

Vienna strengthens position as world capital of plasma processing

“In the Donaustadt quarter of Vienna, Illinois-based Baxter is now putting one of the world’s largest, most modern and efficient facilities to separate plasma components into operation,” says Markus Reinhard, member of the Management Board of Baxter AG and Managing Director of Baxter Innovations GmbH in Vienna, Austria.

The new plasma fractionation facility further strengthens Vienna’s position as the “world capital of plasma processing,” according to Reinhard. “The new plant will be capable of producing vital medicines from about 1.7 million liters of human plasma per year. In the last three years, Baxter has invested more than $70 million to expand and modernize the plasma fractionation building and facilities”, he adds.
