MWV Graz Receives Austrian Packaging Award

December 23, 2014

Prize given for smart packaging

As a part of the first Austrian Packaging day in Vienna, MWV Graz was awarded with the Austrian national packaging award for smart packaging (Staatspreis Smart Packaging). The innovative multi-pack folding box was developed for the company’s long term customer Triumph International for its product “Sloggi men Match." The award was accepted by MWV's Peter Szabó and Mario Rassi, as well as by Kathrin Steinbauer, head of Raw Material Planning Austria and Christian Grill from Triumph International.

The prize, which is awarded biannually, was submitted by general secretary Mag. Harald Kaszanits of the Austrian Ministry of Science, Research and Economy and department head DI Christian Holzer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Nature in the auditorium of the Academy of Sciences.
“On top of the long-term partnership with our customer, this award is a great proof of appreciation for our work. As one of the many joint and successful projects, this product brings a real value-added benefit to both retailers and consumers, as thanks to its smart opening mechanism, a memorable unpacking experience is achieved," said Szabó.

MWV Graz - technical skills uniquely combined
Founded back in 1868 as an art printing company, it was bought by Alfred Wall in 1916 and stayed in family ownership until 2001, when the US MWV group acquired the operation. By adding new technologies, know-how and skills and a constant plant expansion, the company became a leader in the packaging industry. The company serves the entire value chain and is the only Austrian gravure printer which has cylinder making facilities in-house.
MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE:MWV) is a global packaging company providing innovative solutions to the world’s most admired brands in the healthcare, beauty and personal care, food, beverage, home and garden, tobacco and agricultural industries. MWV’s network of 125 facilities and 16,000 employees spans North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
