Between April 14-19 Milan will become a mecca for furniture design, an international hot spot displaying the very latest trends. The Austrian Furniture Industry, working in partnership with the Austrian Trade Commission, will co-organize the exhibition on contemporary Austrian design for the sixth time.

Thousands of design fans will flock to the Italian city for the 'Salone Del Mobile' and the many associated events that are taking place alongside the trade fair.  The creative show, which this year will be housed in the former sports complex, 'La Pelota', has become a prestigious platform and a major attraction over the last few years. Demand for designs that are 'Made in Austria' is growing and they are hugely popular around the world. "I am really pleased to have another great location where can inspire enthusiasm for Austrian furniture. Our member companies who are showcasing their products in Milan – ADA, BENE, Braun-Lockenhaus, Conform Badmöbel, HAAPO 1910, JOKA, TEAM 7, Viteo, Wittmann and Wiesner-Hager – represent the best in design expertise, functionality and high quality when it comes to Austrian furniture," says Dr Georg Emprechtinger, Chairman of the Austrian Furniture Industry.

The tag line for this year's exhibition is 'AUSTRIAN DESIGN PIONEERS'. Austria has a long tradition of design, and the courage and creativity of the first design pioneers still lives on today. Just as these pioneers paved the way at the beginning of the 20th century for a new understanding of design, so today's furniture companies, designers and artists are setting new standards with their latest concepts. By preserving and developing decades-old craft traditions and combining them with high-tech procedures and cutting-edge design ideas, they are creating innovative products that make them the design pioneers of a new generation. "From young designers to established companies, in Milan we can showcase ourselves as a design nation that continues to create pioneering trends and build on tradition, while at the same time having the courage to develop new designs and creative ideas, resulting in products which inspire people around the world," continues Emprechtinger.

The exhibition is open on the following days:
