All of them are looking for a second-round financing and are seeking international market entry. Amongst them were Startups from business sectors like healthcare and environmental technology, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and lifestyle - industries that a strongly represented on the U.S. east coast and are undergoing rapid growth.

Representatives of Citi Bank, Flatiron Investors, Techstars, ff Venture Capital, Rubicon Venture Capital, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures and many more were present at the event. The teams only had 5 minutes to present their business ideas and convince potential investors. During the following cocktail reception the atmosphere was much more relaxed and while enjoying Austrian wine and Schnitzel the Austrian startups could respond to all questions that remained open.

Besides the pitch night the Austrian startups also had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of the co-working space “WeWork”, which is at the same time also the highest rated startup currently in New York ($ 10bn), as well as the accelerators Techstars and Entrepreneurs Round Table (ERA), where the entrepreneurs were able to conduct a rehearsal of their pitches and received constructive feedback.

After three intensive days in New York the program continued in Boston where the Austrians stopped by at other accelerators such as the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) and Mass Challenge, which also has offices in London, Lausanne, Jerusalem and Mexico City. The grand finale was certainly the get-together with innovators from one of the best technical universities in the world, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
