President Obama refers to Austrian company voestalpine as success story at the SelectUSA Investment Summit

November 6, 2013

Inaugural summit conference connect businesses and investors from around the world with U.S. economic development organizations

At the SelectUSA Investment Summit on Oct. 31, 2013 President Obama told foreign business leaders that there is no better place in the world to invest and do business than the United States. An Austrian company was very prominently mentioned by the President and prior to that also mentioned by U.S. Dept. of Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker: Austrian voestalpine, which is creating 220 jobs at an auto parts plant in Cartersville, Georgia. Obama would “like to see even more of these success stories told across this country.”

In its Nov. 2013 letter to shareholders, voestalpine’s board shows respect for “the President’s and other US government officials’ high-level commitment to the USA as a competitive business location, in particular for industry—motivating and demonstrating trust in its strengths and its future. As proof that this is not merely lip service, but actual reality, the President not only talks about American industrial companies returning to the US but about big-name international corporations who have in recent years learned to increasingly appreciate these US strengths and who are investing in the USA—including European corporations, voestalpine among them.”
