A European Helmet Conquers America

February 25, 2009

Rosenbauer’s Heros Helmet gets U.S. approval

A fire helmet from the Austrian company ROSENBAUER is the first European helmet that has been tested and certified according to the National Fire Protection Agency’s U.S. standard (NFPA 1971, 2007). The firefighting helmet HEROS and its successor models are already one of the most often used firefighting helmet systems in Europe. Requirements of the European and U.S. standards for firefighter helmets are very different. What makes the Austrian fire helmet so special: Among other features, its size can easily be adjusted from the outside and it has a tested helmet lamp which can be easily detached with the press of a button and used as a handheld lamp. In addition to the standard visor offering extensive facial protection, a small visor for eye protection can be used specially for technical deployments. The helmet is available in 5 colors.

The ROSENBAUER Group is one of the leading manufacturers of specialty vehicles for airports and industry. With a workforce of about 1,800 and a wide range of municipal firefighting vehicles and aerials (manufactured to both European and U.S. standards) as well as a comprehensive series of air crash tenders and industrial firefighting vehicles, advanced firefighting components and fire & safety equipment, ROSENBAUER is represented in more than 100 countries.

2008 was the best year yet for the ROSENBAUER Group in its entire 143 year history. This success is attributable largely to the strong international position achieved by the Group over the past few years. ROSENBAUER trusts that with timely additions to its production capacity in the U.S. and Austria, it is well prepared to deal with ensuing high production volumes.
