Austrian firm awarded $900,000 to wire conveyor systems for new VW plant’s body shops

As Volkswagen Group of America begins installing equipment at its new factory in Chattanooga, TN , the Austrian company Pentanova GmbH in Gleisdorf (Styria) has landed a $900,000 contract.  Pentanova provides turnkey electro-technical solutions in the field of industrial automation and software. The contract is for the first phase of electrical wiring for the conveyor systems in the plant’s body shops.  The company will hire a local electrical company to perform some of the work and plans to begin the project in March.

The new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga is planned to start production in 2011 and several Austrian and European suppliers are considering setting up operations close by.  The first plant equipment was installed in early November, and according to VW officials, the construction timeline is on schedule.
