This year’s EuroSkills will be the eighth edition of the event, and Austria will of course be taking part, with 47 participants from 40 professions contesting medals as Team Austria (there are separate competitions outside Poland for two professions).

The EuroSkills Championship is the biggest vocational training and skills excellence event in Europe, and some 600 young professionals from 32 countries are set to visit Poland’s Baltic coast to showcase their skills and expertise in a total of 43 vocations. Medals will be awarded for the best performances.

Team Austria is once again one of the largest this year, and a quick glance at previous EuroSkills medal tables confirms that Austria has been one of the most successful nations at these competitions. This is a pleasing validation of Austria’s dual education system in which apprentices follow parallel training courses in companies and at vocational schools, creating close connections between education and business and between theory and practice.

Austria’s excellent vocational training is certainly a successful model, and a factor both for competent professionals and its strong position as a business location.

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA wishes the talented Austrian team every success at EuroSkills 2023!
