The danger of the elderly being marginalized and left without the services they need in a rapidly digitizing world is real. To combat the problem, the Austrian emporia Telecom GmbH has been developing, designing and manufacturing smartphones and tablets based on ease of use for 30 years, especially listening to the needs and wishes of the elderly.
As the only smartphone manufacturer in the world, the Austrian company has an exceptional concept for keeping the elderly involved in digitization. It's not just about the devices and their ease of use, but emporia's way of supporting the elderly and ensuring their participation in development. Phones and tablets come with comprehensive written user manual and an exercise book. In addition, emporia, together with its partners, trains support personnel to help with the commissioning of the devices and their utilization in the best possible way.
Emporia's concept includes that the user's are strongly involved in the product development of the devices. With the help of research and joint workshops, the needs and usage habits of the elderly have been clarified and taken into account in the smart details of the devices.
Although the Nordic countries are at the top level in digitization and 83% of the people over 65 already use mobile devices, the need for ease of use does not disappear. The proportion of elderly people in the population is growing all the time. Now was the right time to enter the Nordic market, which has great potential, says emporia's main owner and managing director Eveline Pupeter.
Emporia devices will be sold in Finland e.g. in stores as well as in online stores of Elisa, Verkkokauppa.com and Veikon Kone. There are to begin with six phone models and a tablet to choose from.
