Nicola Hochegger from Graz won gold in the category floristy! In the floristry competition, the participants had a total of eight different test tasks, four of which were surprise tasks and not known in advance. Mandatory tasks included a tied bouquet, a bridal bouquet, a cut flower arrangement, and a planted arrangement. The surprise tasks included e.g. body decoration, chair decoration with flowers and a flower arrangement with a large stone element.
Nicola Hochegger works in the flower shop Blumen Kubat Anger founded by her grandmother. Nicola's iron professionalism was clearly visible in her competition work and dedication to the competition tasks, and she was not disturbed even when the drill broke down while doing the last competition task.
Lisa Lintschinger won the Medallion for Excellence recognition award in the fashion and clothing industry competition. The recognition award is given to those competitors who have achieved a better than average score in their own sport. The competition in the fashion and clothing sector consisted of four different modules for which a total of 18 hours of time had been allocated. The first three-hour module included drawing the patterns and their layout on the fabric, during the second one-and-a-half-hour module, the participants made a model piece from calico fabric, during the third, 12-hour module, the participants sewed a lined "equesterian" themed jacket. The fourth module consisted of a sketch drawn on A3 paper of women's four pieces of fast fashion party wear.
Lisa Lintschinger from Lungnau in the state of Salzburg has been a seamstress at Änderungsschneiderei Moser since 2018.
Elena-Milena Radu participated in the WorldSkills competition in the beauty therapy category. The beauty therapy competition included a total of six different modules, each with different test tasks. During the four competition days, the tasks included e.g. full body skin care, massage, facial treatment, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, make-up, nail care and varnishing.
Elena-Milena Radu works at Praxis für Podologie, Fußpflege und Wundversorgung e.U. in Vienna. Elena-Milena Radu performed excellently in the competition, even though she was informed only a week before the competition that she will participate in the competition after the original competitor fell ill, and therefore, like the other participants, she did not have the opportunity to practice the competition tasks in advance.
Around 200 competitors and judges from 32 different countries participated in the WorldSkills Special Edition competition held in Helsinki. These international competitors represented four different competition categories; floristry, beauty care, hair styling and the fashion and clothing industry.
