The "Katingan Mentaya Project" is based on a solid business model aimed to protect and restore 157,875 hectares of peatland ecosystems to offer local people sustainable sources of income, and to tackle global climate change.

The project is currently the largest Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) approved REDD+ project in the world and the area is home to some of the world's most endangered species, such as the Bornean Orangutan and Proboscis Monkey.

A sustainable initiative for a sustainable future!

Committed people all around the world develop solutions for the most pressing environmental problems of our time: resource scarcity, air and water pollution, erosion, climate change or dependence on fossil fuels. Although these solutions are readily available, they often remain unheard of. Energy Globe gives them a voice and presents them to a large audience to make them visible and encourage others to come up with their own innovative solution.

With more than 180 participating countries, the Energy Globe Award is the most important environmental award worldwide. Projects from all over the world are submitted, ranging from small and simple initiatives to large-scale high-end ones. The national winners of the Energy Globe Award are published in cooperation with UNIDO at www.energyglobe.info, the national award ceremonies are organized by Advantage Austria.

The national winners have one thing in common: all of them have understood that the environment is not protected by words, but by action! Each one of us can contribute!

Every single action counts! Submit your sustainable project to the Energy Globe Award 2022! Submission is open. Details and the application form are available for download at www.energyglobe.info.
