Webinar: Japan's market for semiconductor, smart factory and robotics

  • Online

Please note Japan time is 15.30 - 16.30, 27 June.

Japan remains committed to significant incentives for semiconductor plant establishments, leveraging the country’s enduring strengths in the supply sector (gases, materials) and focusing on differentiation rather than mass production. The new Rapidus plant in northern Japan (Hokkaido) and the NIL (Nanoimprint Lithography Institute) are two key examples of this strategy. In addition, Japan is making major investments in education and training: under the CHIP-ONE project, more than 10,000 new semiconductor experts are to be trained by 2030.

Geopolitical tensions continue to support the trend toward choosing Japan as a location - this has led to new establishments or expansions of existing plants by foreign companies as well as Japanese tech firms.

In the areas of Smart Factory and Digital Transformation, there are strong initiatives in place, but implementation - especially within administrative processes and SMEs—lags significantly behind targets.

This webinar will address the current market situation and trends, particularly in the semiconductor industry, but also in related sectors such as sensors, robotics, smart factories, and digitalization. A special focus will be placed on Physical AI—the merging of AI with robotics and smart factory solutions.

This webinar is especially suited for:

  • Companies (including plant equipment manufacturers) in the semiconductor industry
  • Providers of Smart Factory/IoT solutions for production processes
  • Companies in the areas of smart logistics/warehousing
  • Research institutions focused on related topics
