A festive ceremony was held today to mark the start of construction of the Austrian Pavilion on the grounds of the World Expo in Osaka. A high-ranking Austrian delegation, including the President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Dr Harald Mahrer and the Deputy Secretary General Mariana Kühnel, attended the event to celebrate this important milestone.
The Ground Breaking Ceremony officially marks the start of construction work on the Austrian pavilion, which will serve as a showcase for Austrian innovation, culture and business. Under the title "Composing the Future", future concepts and innovations from Austria will be presented - accompanied by the vigour of music. The design of the pavilion was presented last May at the Vienna World Museum and was created by the Viennese architecture firm BWM Designers & Architects. The internationally active Swiss consortium Nüssli is acting as general contractor, with construction being carried out by the Japanese construction company Tekken.
Harald Mahrer on the beginning of the construction: "This is a proud moment for Austria. Our pavilion at the Expo in Osaka will not only represent the diversity and innovative strength of our country, but also provide a platform for international cooperation and exchange."
