Austrian specialist Binderholz supplies 1,100 m³ glulam and 3,100 m³ CLT for the ongoing construction of a truly multifunctional building. It will combine the Växjö railway station and town hall, expected to be finished in February 2021. The gross area of the building will reach almost 17,000 m2, distributed on seven levels. The lower floors will house the station itself, a tourist centre, a café and a restaurant as well as a meeting-space “Växjö living room”. Floors four through seven will house the town´s administrative centre with about 600 work places. 577 m2 of solar panels will be installed on the roof.

When the Växjö station area was developed in the 1870s, it was built for a city with about 4,000 inhabitants, whereas today the population has surpassed 65.000 people necessitating the Växjö station area to undergo a major change.

The Binderholz building was designed by the architects of Skanska Teknik and Sweco. Skanska Sverige AB assembles the beautifully crafted components Made in Austria.
