Well-known architectural firms such as Dorte Mandrup, 3XN and Dissing+Weitling, as well as representatives of the City of Copenhagen, a representative of the timber construction section of the Danish Industry (Dansk Industri) and the director of the Danish Timber Construction Association (træinformation) joined the tour. The packed programme left no time for culinary delights at lunchtime or long breaks for the group of 16 Danes, 1 Swede and 2 Austrians (ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Stockholm), but no wish was left unfulfilled as far as impressive timber construction projects were concerned. Commercial buildings, schools, kindergartens, and office buildings - there was something for everyone. This time, the group also visited production and timber construction companies, not just buildings. The participants were able to catch a glimpse at the prefabricated parts of the timber construction for the upcoming Volvo Experience Centre in Gothenburg at Wiehag and experience the production at Binderholz at first hand. There were great discussions going on during the entire trip, and especially at the networking event in Tyrol with Austrian experts from the region. The group was in high spirits despite the unsteady and – expectedly - rainy weather in Salzburg. In any case, the trip showed once again that Austrian timber construction and its related skills are a global benchmark, also for the Nordics. We are already looking forward to the next tour!
