SWARCO contributes to award winning infrastructure project in Sweden

Sweden’s leading construction industry magazine Byggindustrin has selected Norvik Port in Stockholm as "Building of the Year 2021". It is one of the most prestigious awards in the Swedish public building sector. Norvik Port, located just south of Stockholm, was inaugurated in 2020. It consists of two main areas: one terminal for containers and one for rolling goods.

The project has profited from an outstanding collaboration between the many suppliers who have been involved, meeting the delivery timeline on budget all while prioritizing safety and a good working environment.

SWARCO Sverige, a subsidiary of Austria’s traffic technology group SWARCO, has been instrumental in providing state-of-the art traffic management solutions for this port project, including barriers, LED variable message signs, ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras, line scan cameras, detection equipment, and most importantly, SWARCO's own port control system SPCS. The system helps guide vehicles to the portals of the terminal, where their length and width are scanned, and verifies whether they are authorized for access.

“We are very proud to be a part of this prestigious and challenging project and would like to congratulate our business partner Stockholm Ports on the award“, says Göran Boivie, SWARCO Sverige’s Operations Manager. “The primary challenges for us were the sharp project deadline in times of pandemic and the fact that we were one of the last contractors to act within the project chain.“
