Taiwan has one of the highest GDP per capita in Asia. Cosmopolitan Taiwanese people show a strong interest in high-quality food and other consumer products from Europe. Therefore Taiwan represents a very interesting market for Austrian companies of the consumer goods sector.

In order to give Austrian companies a platform to present their products, the Austrian Commercial Office has organized a virtual trade mission about consumer goods on March 30th and 31st. During an introductory business briefing, the Taiwanese experts Dr. Roy Chun Lee from the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research and Mr. Kuan-Yu Lin from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration gave an overview about the business conditions in Taiwan’s food sector and import of food products in Taiwan. This was followed by B2B talks between the participating Austrian companies, which offered wine, cheese and organic cosmetics among other things, and Taiwanese company representatives to explore the possibilities of business cooperation.
