Austria lies in the centre of Europe and is influenced by both the Altlantic and Continental climatic systems. The moderate continental climate features four distinct seasons, with typical temperature and climate characters.
The east of Austria enjoys a continental pannonian climate. There is little rain, summers are hot and winters are only moderately cold. The mountain regions have a rainy Alpine climate with long winters. The other provinces experience varying moderate climates, from the Atlantic influence in the west to the continental influence in the south east.
